Young Meadows Children's Ministry partners with parents to disciple children to recognize their need for Christ, grow in their love for Christ, and flourish in their walk with Christ. Here are the answers to a few frequently asked questions that we hope will assist you in knowing more about our Children's Ministry program. Please feel free to reach out to our Director of Children's Ministy, Jenn Gwin, for more information through the church office at 334-244-1385.

Where do I go to check my children in?

The Nursery is open and available for children ages six months through three years old every Sunday from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.  A Children's Ministry volunteer will be available to help parents check-in nursery aged children at the kiosk outside of room 113 in the children's hallway.

How are you providing a safe and nurturing environment for all children?

We are deeply committed at Young Meadows to providing a safe and nurturing environment for all children participating in our ministries. Our Child Protection Policies and Procedures are designed to safeguard the well-being of every child, reflecting our dedication to their safety and spiritual growth. Our Children's Minister, staff members, and Deacon of the Day are present on Sundays to supervise hallways and classrooms. Outside doors to the children's wing remain locked at all times and require a code for access.

We require all of our Children's Ministry volunteers to be members of Young Meadows for a minimum of six months. Most of our teachers are established members who have served at Young Meadows for many years.

What training do children's ministry volunteers go through?

We recognize our spiritual, moral, and legal obligation to protect children from harm. We strive to create a secure environment where children can learn about God's love and grow in their faith without fear. All of our staff and children's ministry volunteers have undergone a thorough screening process including background checks and personal interviews. Our professional nursery staff, Children's Ministry Team, and church staff have also completed child sexual abuse prevention training through Ministry Safe. We require our staff to be equipped to recognize and respond to any signs of abuse or neglect.

Additional training is offered through the church on teaching techniques, Gospel-focused ministry, and relational growth.

What does communication look like in the children's ministry?

We believe in partnering with parents to ensure the well-being of your children. During the nursery check-in process, a label is printed with parental contact information listed so we can easily reach you should a need arise with your child in the nursery. We also regularly communicate through a monthly Children's Ministry e-newsletter to keep parents informed of upcoming events, safety policies, and church related news. We encourage parental involvement and welcome any questions or feedback regarding our children's ministry.

May I bring my children into the worship service?

Yes! Children are welcome and encouraged to worship with us here at Young Meadows. There is much grace for the whispers and wiggles that happen when you have small children. We know it can be a challenging season of growth for these little ones. Be sure to pick up a clipboard with a children's bulletin and crayons on your way into the sanctuary to use during the sermon. Feel free to contact us for advice and additional tools as you help your child learn to worship.
